General 2008 Lone Star Motorcycle Rally Information The Lone Star Rally, frequently referred to as the Galveston bike rally, is held on Galveston Island which is just south of Houston. The weather in Texas this time of year varies, although it is November it can be sunny and close to 90 degrees or rainy and down to 50 degrees.
One cool thing about the Galveston motorcycle rally is that it is free (except to see the concerts) and with over 350,000 attendees, Lone Star is the largest of the Texas bike rallies. The Lone Star Galveston rally is on the 2008 Lightning Customs Major Bike Rallies List.
Lone Star Galveston Bike Rally Attractions The riding around the Lone Star motorcycle rally is one of the attractions. Going over the Causeway that gets you over the water to Galveston Island lets you see the water, riding along the beach once on the island, and riding on Strand Street through the middle of the rally are all part of the Galveston TX motorcycle experience.
Galveston is an attractive tourist city and because it is also a beach city you will find that many of the bars and places to eat have outdoor areas where you can view the Lone Star Rally's action. As far as lodging at the, you can either stay at one of the hotels or camp out.
Attractions at the Galveston rally include live music, racing, tattoo contest, demo rides, poker runs, Miss Lone Star contest, different companies' promotions girls, and more to be announced as we get closer to the 2008 Lone Star rally date. In addition, the rally has around 400 vendors including big rigs from major parts distributors, manufacturers, and dealerships. The vendor area expanded a couple of years ago to not include the Seawall area as well as the cross streets of Strand Street.

General SPI Bike Fest Information The South Padre Island BikeFest is a family oriented bike rally and is one of the larger Texas bike rallies that is on the 2008 Lightning Customs Major Bike Rallies List.
The island of South Padres is a narrow island in the Gulf of Mexico with three main streets, Laguna Blvd and Gulf Blvd are the two outside streets that you can ride and see the water. The street in the middle of the island is called Padre Blvd and this is the main drag. South Padre Island is a resort town that offers a unique setting because there are a lot of open bars and restaurants along the three main streets where you can relax and people watch.
One thing to note is that the hotel rooms are relatively expensive during SPI Bikefest, but if you don't stay on the island you will have to sit in traffic often on the Causeway that brings you across the water. No matter where you want to stay while you are at the South Padre bike rally, book your rooms early or you will be left with only expensive rooms.
South Padre Bike Fest Attractions The events at the South Padre Bike Fest are held primarily at two locations, the South Padre Convention Center and Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark. One of the big events each year at the SPI motorcycle is the guided Mexico Fiesta Run where you cross the border, party and shop. Other typical Bike Fest events include live music, bike shows, biker field events, multiple poker runs, stunt shows, tattoo contest, raffles, a parade down Padre Blvd and other non biker events.
